Malvern, Pennsylvania
A new 1,000-seat church has been designed for this expanding parish, and the new church addition includes a below-grade K-6 classroom facility, complete with offices and toilet rooms. The existing church has become a day chapel, with an updated community room and kitchen below.
Structural design for the new church consists of a sloping steel frame roof with a wood deck over the steel. The roof clear span distance is 90’ in one direction and 80’ in the other, and cantilevered over the existing sloping church roof.
A completely new central mechanical system was designed to serve the new addition, and replace the existing system in the original church building. A new building automation system allows for year-round comfort in each individual area of this combined facility.
